Breaking the rules

Chambray- Madewell, jeans- 7 for all Mankind, sandals- Sam Edelman, bag- Fendi, sunglasses- Ray-Ban

Denim on denim is supposed to be some big fashion no-no. But with the rise of chambray (not actual denim but has the same kind of shading) in spring 2011, there had to be some sort of alternative to this rule. The key to doing this look right is having two different shades of denim, a light and a dark.

Another rule to break is investing money into a new trend that might not have a long-term investment. Hesitant to buy a pair of boyfriend jeans, I pulled out a pair of skinny jeans that had outgrew me over the years and were a little too baggy to really be considered skinny anymore. Just a few cuffs at the bottom and a belt to hold them up tighter, and I just saved myself $whateverjeanscostthesedays.00. Word to the wise don't hoard stuff that doesn't fit or isn't in style, but don't be so quick to throw things out either.
